Civitan's main emphasis is service to the developmentally challenged. Over $6,000 was raised by the race, and net proceeds will go to support community organizations including the following:

• Joseph Sams School provides excellent educational opportunities for the young special people of Fayette County (school-age children) who are developmentally challenged.

• ExceptionalOPS is an organization devoted to promoting the improvement and expansion of support and services for people with developmental disabilities who reside in our area.

• Fayette County Special Olympics serves hundreds of aspiring athletes who just can't compete on the Greek Olympics Traditional Level, but who have all the heart and drive of the best athletes in the world.

• Southwest Christian Care provides residential and home-bound care for terminally ill patients and their families as well as respite care for medically fragile young folks whose parents really need a break.
